First post, so it's an introduction

I suppose that I started this blog for several reasons: 1) I love pornography. I don't suppose it's the general porn-love that I suffer from, rather it's a sort of interest in the weird little subculture that is encapsulated and created by it, 2) there's an odd thing happening in erotica today: for one, pin-up culture has hit a resurgence, meaning that fancy photography and model collaborations are happening now (just look at Suicide Girls, for example), which leads us to 3) pornography has started considering the idea of individual over mass-arousal; you have people like Arika Ames and Tiffany Teen running websites (or maybe having websites run for them) as an expression of both self-awareness and realized sexuality. The concept of individuals sort of ups the ante for an erotic fix—these are girls (and guys) who are willing to be intimate with themselves, their photographers and camera-men, and a whole lot of fans; and fans, I think, sort of enjoy the fact that they know these girls on some sort of base sexual level.

The purpose of this blog is to inspire a more thoughtful consideration of the erotic arts (though the difference between art and entertainment must be considered, as well). I feel like its an interesting subject to delve into. Perhaps with a lot of posts, some people helping, and a lot of comments, we can look at pornography not as a distraction of fantasy-fulfillment but as a medium for those of us who have sort of shuffled off our Puritanical coils. I'd also hope to get the help of some sites, like those linked above, and places like Nerve.com and other open-minded venues to post some interesting articles or interviews. But I guess that'll come in time.
